i have HUGE problem with 'litterless lunch'

this is a school-pushed program that tells students to bring a litterless lunch once a week. and often times, these school offer classroom rewards for highest compliance.




so what if you are a kid without a litterless lunch? what might you expect?
* jeers from your fellow classmates when they don't get the reward
* pointed jabs that you don't count as a winner when the classroom does achieve a reward
* your teacher singling you out when she informs the class it's another litterless lunch tomorrow

of course litterless lunch is NEVER on a day that the school has allowed an outside company - like lunch lady - to bring in hot food (along with LOTS of plastic packaging).

why, that would send a conflicting message....

(are we businessmen who want a portion of the sales? or environmentalist who care for the earth?)




there are kids who unwrap their prepacked snacks or scoop out pudding cups into tupperware - just to qualify as 'litterless lunch'
(oh, and they qualify alright... even NO lunch is considered a litterless lunch for goodness sakes!)

if the school (and school boards) thought that cutting down on litter was important, they should be pushing for walkable schools, and changing the schedule back to a one hour lunch - then kids could go home to eat.

last month i posted about a blithering idiot (link here) whose anonymous identity was revealed in a spectacular fashion when the following post appeared on the Mothering Board:

Karenwith4 always talks a good game: she's a persuasive writer and has a talent for appearing fair and balanced while persuing her agenda.  Her background in PR is definitively an asset.

Over the years, she has maligned quite a few personalities on this anomynous board - interpreting their intentions and judging their parenting outcomes. Although she identifies herself as unitarian, her words here do not reflect the inherent worth and dignity of every person.

In threads such as 'Have you ever dumped a friend?' and 'Can we talk about social stuff and community' she tells only a portion of the truth.  She wraps her targets in character flaws, implies that they are socially isolated for good reason, calls them high maintenance with her biased anecdotal evidence, and camaflouges her own action and culpability in these events.

She is quick to call a former friend's email a rant, but neglects to mention her own long and angry email that spurred it. 

She names herself a generous organizer of events and laments the complainers who don't step up to the plate and organize their own fun stuff, but she neglects to admit this 'complainer' hosted and organized a weekly co-op for her family and 7 others for almost 2 years 

Then, here on a mothering board, she turns her judgement on their children labelling them challenging to be with, ok in small doses, and dismissing their worth and/or dignity by writing: I don't want to set up a situation whereby they are "lowering their standards" to be friends with (these) kids

And here she's at it again, in this current thread

Saying she doesn't find enough value in this boy to befriend him herself.  She labels him passive-aggressive, says he sabotages games, and reiterates: there's a reason why he's targeted at school

In fact, it's not private at all.  Perhaps K*****, N*****, S*****, and M***** will burst your lovely bubble in Canada

well, can you believe that she is STILL using her now-compromised account?  of course she deleted all those nasty threads she began (good riddance to bad rubbish) as well as her damaging posts in other people's threads (she hasn't the power to remove those threads so her comment box hangs suspiciously empty) click here for an example

we can see what you are trying to do - coming off as insecure (boo-hoo), with your lower case letters like you're not important enough (sniff) for even one capital.

3 steps to public humiliation

1. a little girl draws a picture of a gun
2. her teacher shows it to principal; principal calls in the police
3. her father, arriving at the school to pick up his children, is arrested

          IN FRONT OF THE SCHOOL

now, the police and the school can talk the good talk of firearms safety, concern for the child's welfare, and their duty to report the drawing...

but is arresting an innocent-before-proven-guilty father in front of his children's school community necessary to the child's welfare? 

can they seriously argue the threat of violence was so high at that time, they had to act immediately?
no.
it was to humiliate him.
plain and simple

then the strip search at the station.
and showing up at his home to tell his wife:

1. he had been arrested
2. they had to search the house
3. they had to remove his remaining children into care

and all this done without telling the woman what her husband had been charged with.

so maybe the school and police were hoping for a further humilation by causing his wife to doubt her commitment to him

Jay Leno showed security footage of a woman wearing a long skirt stealing a case of water.  She places the case on it's side, squats over it slightly (squeezing her knees?) and then the case is hidden in the skirt.

it's recently come to light that a former teacher in guelph, Bruce Abel, assaulted his students 30 years ago.

pleading guilty in 2009 to indecent assault and sexual intercourse with a female under 14, he was sentenced to three and half years of prison

he was reported to the ontario college of teachers, and his licence to teach was revoked.

and if those 2 teen girls (ok, now they are in their mid-40s) require support systems and counselling to get past this horrible memory - then certainly they should get it
but 40 million dollars?

of course, Bruce Abel doesn't have that kind of cash
so they are suing the principal and the school board too - you know, the province's (ie: our) deep pockets

so give the lawyers half (cause you know they pushed for this suit), and that still leaves 10 million dollars a piece

why, that's a better payout than Cash for Life!

maybe we should stop buying lotto tickets and

sign up for tutoring sessions with seedy teachers. heck, any government employee should do.
